Squadron Patch

The 102nd Composite Squadron patch was designed by Major, Shawn M. Wilson, who assumed command of the squadron on 05 May 2021. As a newly rechartered squadron, our members felt it was important to define our identity and promote a sense of unity. The patch serves as a symbol of the squadron's mission and values. The patch features a disc design with top and bottom rockers, embodying the Civil Air Patrol's core values, mission, and squadron's ethos. The emblem of the patch symbolizes different meanings attributed to each element, reflecting the squadron's identity.

Top Rocker
The 102nd's new motto, "We Are One," encapsulates the squadron's commitment to teamwork and membership in the Civil Air Patrol. It builds upon the previous motto and highlights the unity that exists within the squadron, as well as Civil Air Patrol’s mantra “One Civil Air Patrol.” This motto is proudly displayed as the top rocker on the squadron patch, reminding members of our shared principles and mission to serve our community through volunteerism and aviation.

Emblem
The emblem of the patch is adorned with a bald eagle which is symbolic of our national bird and reminiscent of our passion and mission in Aerospace. The two lightning bolts represent our strength, perseverance, and resolve, while also symbolizing our quick communication and rapid response capabilities. The globe embodies Civil Air Patrol's dedication to Emergency Services and our global presence, reflecting our sense of responsibility to our fellow man. Together, these elements embody our unwavering commitment to excellence and service to our communities, state, and nation.

The emblem incorporates six colors, each of which represents a core value of Civil Air Patrol. These colors are black, white, gray, brown, blue, and yellow. Each color is significant and pertains to Civil Air Patrol's core values; integrity, volunteer service, excellence, and respect. Black is an elegant color and represents strength and courage, while white signifies integrity. Gray symbolizes our volunteer service, and brown is associated with excellence. Blue is the color of the sky and represents both the organization’s passion for aerospace and the respect that our members have for America’s traditions and values. Finally, yellow represents the sun and the hope that Civil Air Patrol brings to its communities.

Bottom Rocker
The 102nd Composite Squadron is identified on the bottom rocker of the patch. As a composite squadron, we participate in senior and cadet programs simultaneously, catering to all three Civil Air Patrol missions: Aerospace Education, Cadet Programs, and Emergency Services. As a composite squadron, we are a versatile unit that dedicates our efforts to various aspects of the organization.
